Where Small Classes Lead to Big Growth

At The Sterling School, each student’s day is rooted in small classes and intensive, multisensory instruction based on the research-backed Orton-Gillingham approach. This structure allows us to give every child the focused attention they need to grow.

Students are encouraged to explore their interests, embrace their uniqueness, and become confident, engaged learners. Our curriculum is designed to meet each child where they are, preparing them for future academic success and beyond.

We provide essential related services, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to thrive.

Many of our faculty have been with Sterling for decades, and those who joined during our 2017 expansion brought the same heart and dedication. With high staff retention and deep personal ties to our mission, our educators create the kind of nurturing environment where students can truly reach their fullest potential.

Our Founder, Guided by Experience and Heart

Ruth Arberman founded The Sterling School in 1999 with a clear and personal mission: to create the kind of school she once wished existed for her own child. As a seasoned educator, administrator, and Orton-Gillingham provider, Ruth brought deep expertise and heartfelt determination to building a school where students with language-based learning disabilities could truly thrive. Her legacy lives on in Sterling’s commitment to individualized learning, warmth, and possibility.
